On30 Halloween Trains. This is the first modern On30 train - manufactured by Bachmann for Dept. 46, displayed on Howard Lamey's Halloween Village, 'Spook Hill.' Sorry, the Dept. 56 train is long gone, as are about fifteen other collectibles. But it's still a great scale for Halloween Villages, as this photo shows. Instructions for making the 'Frost is On the Pumpkin' house and many more are located in the 'Spook Hill' section of this site. Big Christmas TrainsOn30 Display Trains

Update, October, 2018: - Years ago, Bachmann Trains invented modern On30 trains to go with Dept. 56 villages - they run on HO track but they are larger in scale than HO trains. In fact, they look great with holiday villages.

For a time, Bradford Exchange's Hawthorne Village department used to commission Bachmann to make On30 trains in Halloween themes. We're sorry to say that the last autumn and Halloween-themed Hawthorne Village trains were discontinued years ago. However we still like the look of On30 trains with holiday villages, so we're leaving this page up with some Bachmann On30 trains to give you some ideas.

We have also snuck in one Hawthorne Village HO-scale Halloween train. It may seem a little small for your village, but many folks have had fun with these.

On30 Trains

Bachmann On30 DCC-equipped Locomotive

This little locomotive is an accurate scale model of a very common late-1800s-early-1900s locomotive. Sometimes these were used in switch yard of railroads to shuttle cars from one train to the other. Even more often, they were used by industries to move supplies and product where they needed to be. This delightful locomotive, or any of the Bachmann 0-4-0 or 4-6-0 locomotive will pull any car on this page.

Bachmann spectrum On30 Rail Bus

Okay, this isn't technically a Halloween train either, but you can tell it would be "cute as a bunny" pulling any car on this page. It's painted for a narrow gauge mining railroad, but don't let that stop you from enjoying a truly unusual bit of American rail history, or from sticking scary "passengers" in the doorways.

Journey of Doom Express Train - HO Gauge

Click for bigger picture.Creepy is an understatement. This is not an On30 train, but I don't have an HO gauge Halloween train page, and it uses the same accessories, so I put it here. Unlike the On30 trains Hawthorne Village used to commission from Bachmann trains. This one is a bit smaller. You may like it around your village, especially if your houses and accessories tend to be on the small side. If you have an HO railroad and want something creepy to run on it, this is probably your best bet.

I haven't had my hands on this one yet, but it seems to have some very nice detailing. Coffins, gargoyles, a horse-drawn hearse, etc.

Update for 2018 - If you prefer red and black, they have a new version you should be able to see if you go to the page for the train shown here. Click on the link below to purchase or for more information.
